The Clarity 66 is a high-performance floorstanding speaker engineered to achieve the composure and headroom of a large speaker while maintaining the timing accuracy and coherence of a fine two-way system. Its primary goal is to utilize ultra-low distortion to reproduce even the most complex sounds—from multiple instruments to layered voices—at realistic sound pressure levels without intermodulation. To achieve this level of performance, the speaker incorporates the following technical features:
- Extended Low Frequency: A true full-range system that achieves linear response down to 24Hz, preserving time coherence across the entire frequency spectrum.
- Two-Way Crossover with Dual Midrange Reproduction: By operating two 6.5” woofers in parallel, the speaker achieves massive midrange headroom and power handling, remarkably reducing distortion in the critical midrange.
-
Purifi Ushindi Technology: Groundbreaking drivers that ensure full dynamics and linearity at all volume levels.
-
Superflare™ Bass Port: An optimized design that manages airflow to minimize bass distortion, while enabling more consistent performance near room boundaries.
- Advanced Cabinet Construction: A reinforced enclosure featuring internal bracing and back-bone rods supporting system to ensure maximum structural rigidity and minimal resonance.
- Proprietary AMT Tweeter: Exclusive to the Lyngdorf group, providing effortless high-frequency performance despite a naturally narrow vertical dispersion.
Following our Scandinavian acoustic philosophy, the Clarity 66 is optimized for typical living spaces that are not overly dampened. In a heavily treated room, the speakers may lose their remarkable soundstage and refined tonal balance due to excessive damping at higher frequencies. Given its significant bass extension, the Clarity 66 is best suited for medium-to-large rooms. Because it reaches deep into the sub-bass, it can energize low-frequency room modes that smaller speakers would not; these lowest frequency modes are typically poorly dampened by standard furniture like sofas or carpets.
While the Superflare™ port enables closer placement to room boundaries without typical unwanted artifacts, the flat anechoic response down to 32Hz is optimally realized when the speakers are placed far from walls. Positioning the cabinet close to a wall will elevate the bass in general. If room constraints require close-to-wall placement, utilizing tone controls or room correction software can be highly effective in eliminating excessive energy and adjusting the bass response.
To ensure proper driver integration and a cohesive image where you hear a singular performance rather than individual drivers, the listening distance of at least 2.5 meters is recommended. Regarding horizontal alignment—although the Clarity 66 is designed for optimal performance on-axis, facing the listener directly, the final result is highly dependent on your room’s acoustics and personal preferences. We encourage you to experiment with speaker angle to find the tonal balance that works best for you. A ‘no toe-in’ placement tends to produce a wider soundstage, while an on-axis alignment tends to yield the most even response in a typical setup. Furthermore, due to the tall radiating surface of the AMT tweeter, the speaker has reduced vertical dispersion. For optimal performance, your ears should be positioned on the tweeter plane; if your seating position is higher, use the adjustable feet to tilt the cabinet backward slightly to maintain this alignment.
Finally, to fully unlock this dynamic potential, we recommend high-quality amplification capable of 200 watts (4 ohm) or above. Because the distortion is so remarkably low, high sound pressure levels can feel lower than they truly are. Please be mindful of your actual volume levels to protect your hearing and maintain good relations with your neighbors.
Extra tip: Try playing bass-heavy music that also features complex female vocals and turn up the volume. You will find that the woofers move spectacularly to produce deep 24Hz frequencies, yet the midrange remains perfectly transparent and undistorted. This is the result of ultra-low intermodulation and the shared workload of the parallel woofers, providing the authority of a massive speaker with the timing and accuracy of a high-end 2-way system.
